Grand Cayman

The Top 4 family friendly attractions in the Grand Cayman.

7 mile beach is the most widely recommended beach on the cruise circut. It is actually 3.5 miles long and made up of several smaller beaches. After the closure of Royal Palms Beach Club, Coral beach seems to be the most mentioned.

I would caution family's with young children who are considering this location. There is very little beach left and the chairs are situated on top of a retaining wall. Small children do not have room to play alone in the sand here, especially if there is a high tide. That being said, Coral beach does offer chairs, food/drink, bathrooms, and does not allow venders to solicit. There is a $5 charge to enter.

Stingray City/Stingray Sandbar

Stingray City is a world-famous attraction in Grand Cayman, where visitors can snorkel/scuba drive with stingrays in their natural habitat. Stingray sandbar is a shallow sandbar where stingrays congregate to be fed by tourists. If you're adventuring with young children, you'll prefer the 2-4 feet shallow waters of the sandbar. These locations are only accessible by boat, so be sure to book a local excursion or one through the cruise ship.

Starfish Beach is a nearby hidden gem that can usually be booked as a part of a trip to the sandbar. The beach is known for its clear shallow waters, white sand beaches, and abundance of brightly colored red starfish! Visitors to the beach can swim, sunbathe, and snorkel.

Dolphin Discovery and Caymen Turtle Center are across from each other. Dolphin Discovery does offer packages that include admission to the Turtle center!

Dolphin Discovery is a dolphin encounter and education program that takes place in the sheltered waters of Grand Cayman’s North Sound. Dolphin Discovery offers three different packages to choose from, each of which includes a dolphin encounter, and use of snorkeling gear. Families with children shorter than 3.3feet will want to choose the Dolphin Lover's Swim where kids 2'11"-3'11" are permitted to participate, and free! However, please note that each child must swim with a paying adult.

The Cayman Turtle Center is located in West Bay, and is home to a variety of turtles. For the price of admission, visitors can visit the aviary, see a crocodile show, grab lunch at Schooner's Bar and Grill, see the breeding pond and visitors can even wade into a touch pool to play with yearling turtles! For an additional fee, visitors can snorkel with the beautiful large turtles, swim in the private lagoon with water slide, and and see the shark exhibit. Turtle food is available for purchase as well.
